Reaching Our Changing World for Christ

Mountain Outreach Ministry

"Where hearts and hands meet needs"
What is Mountain Outreach?
The Mountain Outreach Program began in 1982 in Williamsburg, Kentucky as a concern among Cumberland College (now University of the Cumberlands) students for the poverty and desperation they saw so close about them.  Initially focusing on home repairs and renovations during weekends and holidays the ministry progressed to sponsor church mission teams.  Now the program involves church and other work teams from a number of surrounding states working to build complete homes for needy families, giving them a warm dry place to live.  Clemmons First Baptist became involved in the program in 1999 when 13 members worked with College Park Baptist to build a house for the Ivey Family.  Beginning in the year 2000 Clemmons First Baptist built their first house and since that time, in partnership with Green meadows Baptist and other churches, has completed nine houses thereby improving the lives of ten families totaling 15 adults and 37 children.
